Our History

It all started while attending school at UTI in Phoenix, Arizona. Glenn Bland worked for Selje Solahart where he installed about 200 solar thermal systems as a means of extending his education in the field. After working for years in the HVAC and solar energy fields as an employee, he decided to dive into the industry as a business owner and opened the doors to Bland Air Conditioning and Heating in 1985. In the company's first year, Bland installed another 200 solar systems until U.S. policy basically put the industry to sleep until 1999 when tax credits and rebates were reinstated so as to drive the industry. Early on in the company's history, Glenn was also instructing HVAC classes at San Joaquin Valley College in Bakersfield, California. Progressing from a "one man band" to hiring his own employees, Glenn decided to expand the business by adding a wider array of services to offer his customers. In 2001, not only did he incorporate solar and geothermal into his business, he began training contractors and homeowners around the US on how to incorporate it into their businesses and lifestyles well. After nearly 26 years in business, now Bland Solar and Air, has become a leading HVAC and solar contractor in the US.
